SUSTAINABILITY
At HOUND DOG we want to be the best quality whilst having as little impact on the earth as possible. We aim for minimal waste production. We use natural and biodegradable materials. We buy full hides and use all off cuts for key rings and brand labels. Our leather is vegetable tanned with tree bark, chemical free and non-toxic. Our packaging is recyclable or re-purposed from previous supplier deliveries. We can’t do it all but we do our best. It's sustainable stuff.
HANDCRAFTED
Using high level craftsmanship and sustainable practices we make in small batches to reduce waste and our carbon footprint. All of our products are handmade in our London Hackney and Whitstable studios ensuring excellent quality is maintained throughout. Our dog bowls are hand thrown, fired and glazed in Clapton, East London, our beds individually made to order and all of our leather products are hand cut, riveted and burnished for a beautiful finish. And we’re happy to make bespoke sizes on request. It's skilful stuff.
BRITISH MADE & SOURCED PREMIUM MATERIALS
We’ve chosen to use the best. No compromise. Premium grade vegetable tanned full-grain English leather with solid brass hardware. We use dry wax 100% BCI cotton from British Millerain. Our durable stoneware dog bowls are thrown from Staffordshire speckled clay on Solid Oak trays made in Kent. It's quality stuff.
MADE TO LAST
HOUND DOG is about longevity, durability, and excellent value for money without compromising on style. We believe in ‘Consider, buy less, and invest in the best’. Our products are designed to ensure they age beautifully and stay comfortable. For example, we wanted our dog beds to keep a luxury hand feel and have dig and scratch proof strength, whilst being easy to care for so we make them in a heavy weight washable cotton wax. We wanted our leather to naturally soften and last whilst developing a unique patina so we protect it with natural balms and beeswax. We could go on… it's durable stuff.
PROBLEM SOLVING DESIGN
After extensive research, and a challenging dog, our product is problem solving. Innovative design means anti-spill feeding stations and bowls with ‘Long Ear’ angled sides to prevent water splash with heavier bases for stability. Our O-ring leads reduce wrist strain and can be worn cross body allowing hands-free movement. City Short Leads are designed for close control in urban areas. Our Travel Roll Mats can also come in real sheeps fleece which keeps your dog cool in summer and warm in winter. It's clever stuff.
RIGOROUSLY TESTED
Every item we design is relentlessly tested to its limit by our robust German Shorthaired Pointer, Lottie and her pals to ensure maximum durability. She is vigorous in her quality control and won’t tolerate anything but the best, so we create sturdy designs with strength and beauty. Excellent value and less waste. It's tough stuff.
